Carlos Muñoz García and Albert Ickenroth, better known for their trade name "CarlosAlbert", with their endless imagination, great humor and magic combination of colors have created this world of fantasy that gives life to unique and original creations.

Albert, a native from the Netherlands where he studied economics and art appreciation always loved the great masters like Van Gogh and Rembrandt. In 1976 he took vacations in Mexico and was fascinated by the people, culture, colors and wildlife. He decided to stay and found work as a designer in a world renowned papier mâché workshop, where he taught new procedures and techniques not previously known in Mexico. Later he opened his own workshop where he started to experiment with new designs in papier mâché and other materials, including unique silver and gold, and papier mâché jewelry.

"For me, creating is an essential part of my life. If you don't continue experimenting and learning something new, you might as well just go back to bed"

Carlos, a native from Mexico, after studying english in the U.S. he was accepted at the university for the School of Fine Arts, where he took private lessons in drawing, painting and jewelry making.

"My designs are related with elements of the firmament that were venerated by our ancestors and fascinated me all my life. Each design has it's own personality that reflects my Mexican essence"

Carlos and Albert started to work as a team in 1990, establishing their studio in Tlaquepaque, Mexico, there they create life-size animals in ceramic, fiberglass as well as papier mâché, animals with soul and spirit begging for a hug. Their huge suns and moons add color and expression to walls around the world. Their line of smaller animals done in ceramic or bronze portray hidden human foibles. Each original figurine is one of a limited edition of 150, meticulously hand painted and signed by the artists. They add warmth and expression to homes throughout the world, and inspire the hearts of children and adults alike.

Carlos and Albert are devoting much of their time to their jewelry. Fashioned from sterling silver and papier mâché in exuberant colors, or in more conservative sterling silver and 18 karat gold vermeil, these intricately fashioned designs depict suns and moons with character, amusing animals and objects from nature.

Carlos and Albert are also the creators of most of the non moving animal figures at Rainforest Cafe.

For the excellency in the design and production of their unique and beautiful pieces, Carlos and Albert have received the classification as Master Artisans of México. Their appealing designs and fanciful colors have been imitated around the world.

We invite you to explore their collections of Sterling Silver or Papier Mâché Jewelry, and ceramic and papier mâché sculptures.
